Career Counseling

MATC's Career Planning Center has abundant resources to help you make decisions about your college major and your career. Three-fourths of college students are undecided about their college major. It might help to remember that your choice of major is not a once-and-forever decision. You can expect to change careers six or seven times during your work life.  The Career Planning Center is located in Room S203 at the Milwaukee Campus Student Center. Please call 414-297-6267 for information.

Your interests, values and abilities will influence your career choices. To help you decide, MATC offers the following:

Exploring College Majors workshop: CAREER 411

Career Exploration Step I: is a 3-hour Career Planning Workshop. Participants will begin the process of identifying and exploring careers that are best suited to their abilities and interests. The workshop explores labor market trends, personal work values, identifying careers and programs that fit specific interests, and average salaries. You will complete an online career interest inventory as part of this interactive workshop. See the schedule for times and dates.

Career Directions/Changes workshop:  CAREER 422

This workshop is designed for individuals who have successfully completed Career 411 and want to continue the career exploration process with additional assessments and 1:1 work with a counselor. Participants will build upon the career exploration process as they continue to identify personal interests, personality preferences, skills, and personal work values. Currently, the workshop registration fee of $33.14 includes the Myers-Briggs Type Indicator, Strong Interest Inventory Revised, and a combined, personalized interpretative report. See the schedule for dates and times.
