MATC Promise for New High School Graduates


By offering free tuition for eligible students, the MATC Promise for New High School Graduates is unlocking opportunity, making college a reality for students who never thought it was possible.

Class of 2019 high school graduates
The application window for 2019 high school graduates is now open! For eligible graduates, the MATC Promise will pay the tuition and program course fees for up to 75 credits, after federal and state financial grant aid has been applied. The cost of books is not covered by the Promise program.

To apply, you must:

  • Apply for MATC admission by February 1, 2019

  • Complete the Promise interest application by February 1, 2019

  • Complete a federal student aid application (FAFSA) by Febuary 1, 2019
    (MATC’s federal school code is 003866)

  • Be eligible for federal Pell grants (your FAFSA will determine this)

  • Earn a 2.0 GPA or higher in the first semester of your senior year

  • Earn a composite ACT score of 16 or above by June 15, 2019

  • Graduate from a high school in the MATC district or live in the MATC district

  • Submit your final high school transcript with graduation date by August 1, 2019

  • Enroll in at least 12 credits at MATC in Fall 2019 (special exceptions may be provided)


The high school Class of 2019 will be the fourth class of MATC Promise for New High School Graduates. First launched in 2015, the MATC Promise was the first program of its kind in Wisconsin.

The MATC Promise for Adults

Free tuition for eligible students to finish your degree

Priority Deadline: December 7, 2018

Final Deadline: January 12, 2019

Applicants who meet the priority deadline will receive a response by December 21

 

What is the MATC Promise for Adults?

  • The MATC Promise for Adults provides eligible students up to 75 credits of free tuition -- after other scholarships and grants are applied -- to complete an in-demand associate degree.
  • The Promise also provides support to help students stay on track to graduate and connect to a career.


Who is eligible?
Eligible students:

  • Are 24 years or older as of December 31, 2018  and live in the MATC district
  • Have an annual family income of $56,000 or less (based on federal student aid application)
  • Have earned at least six college credits but have not earned an associate or bachelor’s degree -- students must have been out of college for at least two years
     

Even if you don't qualify for the Promise, we'll work with you to find a path to a degree and an in-demand career.

How do I get started?

  • Complete an MATC application by December 7 (priority) or January 12 (final) -- you’ll get an MATC student ID when the application is complete

  • Complete a Promise interest application by December 7 (priority) or January 12 (final)-- be sure to use your new MATC student ID

  • Complete the 2018-2019 federal student aid application (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov by December 7 (priority) or January 12 (final)

  • Enroll in at least six credits toward an associate degree program linked to a top 50 in-demand career

The following supplemental items are due to MATC Admissions by December 14, 2018 (priority) or January 12, 2019 (final) — contact apply@matc.edu with questions:

  • Official high school transcripts

  • Placement scores (ACT, SAT or Accuplacer)

  • Official college transcripts

 

How do I stay in the program?

  • Enroll in at least six credits each fall and spring semester (summer is optional)
  • Earn at least a 2.0 semester GPA and complete 67% of credits attempted in the semester
