MATC Foundation Receives $100,000 Award from ManpowerGroup for MATC Promise
The Milwaukee Area Technical College Foundation has received a pledge of $100,000 from ManpowerGroup to support the MATC Promise.
MATC President Dr. Vicki J. Martin introduced the MATC Promise in September 2015. The “last dollar” scholarship program will pay for eligible students’ tuition and fees after federal and state financial aid has been determined. The first class of Promise students will enroll at MATC this fall.
“We appreciate this generous contribution from the ManpowerGroup Foundation,” said Martin. “Having an important community leader like ManpowerGroup support the MATC Promise will help ensure young people throughout southeastern Wisconsin have the opportunity to make the dream of college a reality. ManpowerGroup’s 2015 Talent Shortage Survey indicated that skilled trades jobs are the most difficult positions to fill. The MATC Promise will address that shortage by training a new generation of professionals in high-demand industries that are vital to our region’s vitality.”
In announcing the award, Pamila Brown, ManpowerGroup Community Investment Program Manager, commented: “Our entire organization is committed to supporting – both with financial contributions and employee volunteerism – the good works that are happening in the communities where we do business. What you do at Milwaukee Area Technical College supports our mission of workforce- and youth-development and we are very pleased to fund the MATC Promise Program.”
