MATC Hosted 11th Annual Sustainability Summit March 26-28

March 31, 2014

Milwaukee Area Technical College hosted the 11th annual “Sustainability Summit and Exposition” March 26-28. The theme of the summit was “Conserving the Future Together.” The summit was coordinated by business, education and government representatives. Previously called the Green Energy Summit, the name of the event was changed in 2013 to reflect the broadened scope of the conference, which encompasses systems and practices that sustain the economy and planet for future generations.

Plenary and breakout sessions with local, regional, national and international experts were held March 26-27 at the Wisconsin Center. In conjunction with the summit, a career fair featuring approximately 40 employers with openings in a variety of fields from green jobs to manufacturing also was held March 26 at the Wisconsin Center. Workshops were held March 28 at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee School of Continuing Education Conference Center.

Dr. Michael L. Burke, MATC president; George Stone, chair of the summit and MATC instructor of natural science; and Paul W. Jones, executive chairman of the board of A.O. Smith Corporation; formally opened the summit on March 26.

Mann, distinguished professor of meteorology and director, Earth System Science Center,  Penn State; Charles A. Schrock, chairman, Integrys Energy Group; and Will Allen, CEO of Green Power.
