MATC Criminal Justice Student Organization Community Chili Cook-Off Raised Approximately $4,200 in Funds for Police Officer Support Team
March 31, 2014
The Milwaukee Area Technical College Criminal Justice Student Organization (CJSO) sixth annual Community Chili Cook-Off charity event raised approximately $4,200 to benefit the Police Officer Support Team (POST). Held March 19 at the Oak Creek Community Center, MATC students, faculty and staff; members of local police and fire departments; and area restaurants donated chili and items for a silent auction.
Criminal justice/law enforcement student Devin Dettman won the contest for the "best chili."
POST helps members of the law enforcement community who are suffering from emotional, personal, physical or stress-related difficulties gain to access to high-quality support services. It also provides traumatic incident support for police officers. POST was founded by Milwaukee police officers in 1985, but serves all members of the law enforcement community and their families regardless of jurisdiction or department. In addition to helping at-risk officers, POST also raises funds for many charities including the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation and Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin.
