ACEN logoAccredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), this Associate in Applied Science degree program prepares students for a Registered Nursing career in a variety of healthcare settings. 

Theory and lab courses on campus set the foundation for clinical practice. Simulation and guided practice in clinical settings provide application of theory and prepare students for practice as RNs. Upon graduation you will be eligible to take the RN licensure exam (NCLEX-RN). 

Career Outlook: Employers will expect graduates to have a plan for completing their bachelor's degree in nursing. Some Bachelor of Science Nursing (BSN) courses may be taken concurrently with the associate degree courses. Consult your advisor for information.

Career Pathway: The Practical Nursing technical diploma ladders into this Registered Nursing associate degree, followed by many choices for RN-BSN programs. Contact an MATC advisor for details.

A criterion considered in the petition process is verification of student residency. Students selected via the petition process are chosen based on MATC district residency, then Wisconsin nondistrict residency, followed by nonresidents, unless otherwise stated.

Special Admission Requirements: One year of high school-level biology and chemistry, Nursing Assistant training.
